What does it mean to me to chose a counsellor with BACP recognition? The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)

BACP registered and Accredited Counsellors are registered practitioners who have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association. It means that practitioners registered with the Association are covered by the rules of BACP and have a Code of Ethics and practice which they must adhere to.  There also includes a procedure for any complaint against your therapist.  In other words you have a consumer right to expect professionalism from your therapist at all times. I have full accredited membership with BACP.
